She was reared in The Bronx, and she first came to the attention of the general public when she disclosed her profession as a stripper on social media. She was born and raised in The Bronx. She gained a lot of attention because to her “no filter mindset,” which contributed to her rise to fame on Instagram and helped her become an Internet celebrity.
During the years 2015–2017, she was a regular cast member on the VH1 reality television series Love & Hip Hop: New York. During that period, she appeared on the programme. In February of 2017, she signed a record deal with Atlantic Records, making them the first major label record business with whom she has worked.
Her first single for Atlantic Records was titled “Bodak Yellow,” and it quickly rose to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States shortly after its release. Because of this, she is just the second female rapper in the history of the genre to accomplish this accomplishment with a solo album, following in Lauryn Hill’s footsteps in 1998. Her first studio album, titled Invasion of Privacy, included the song as one of its individual releases, and it was also released separately (2018).
The 11th of October, 1992 found Belcalis Almanzar being brought into the world in the New York City neighbourhood of The Bronx. She performs under the moniker Cardi B. She spent her childhood in the New York City neighbourhood of Highbridge, which is located in the South Bronx. Her Dominican father and her mother, who is from Trinidad, gave birth to her in the Dominican Republic. Her father is Dominican and her mother is Trinidadian.
She credits having “such a thick […] accent” to the fact that she spent a lot of time at her paternal grandmother’s home in Washington Heights when she was growing up. She says this was the primary reason why she had “such a thick […] accent.” Cardi B has come out and claimed that she has been a part of a criminal organisation ever since she was 16 years old. When she was younger, she was a part of the gang known as the Bloods. She then continued on to get her secondary education at the specialised Renaissance High School for Musical Theater and Technology located on the Herbert H. Lehman campus. This school has a very small number of students enrolled.
When Cardi B was a teenager, she worked as a cashier at an Amish shop in Lower Manhattan. The business was located on the Lower East Side. When she was 19 years old, she started a career as a stripper and this was the last job she had before commencing that occupation. When she was fired from her job at the supermarket, her former manager advised that she look for work at a strip club instead. She has said that she turned to stripping as a means of escaping not just poverty but also domestic violence in her home. During that period, she was engaged in a relationship that may be considered abusive.
Cardi B has also said that her time spent as a stripper was useful to her in many aspects of her life, including the following “It saved me from a wide range of predicaments and challenges in a very real sense. After I started stripping, I decided to enrol in a different kind of academic programme.” She asserts that stripping was the only way for her to get out of the horrific situation she was in and earn enough money to continue an education in spite of the dangers involved. She accomplished this feat through participating in adult entertainment. She did not pursue her education beyond the first year, despite the fact that this was the case.
Cardi B first came to the attention of the media in 2013, shortly after a number of her videos went viral across a variety of social media sites, including Vine and her official Instagram page.
